VENUE

The 1st French - Italian Coordination Chemistry days will be held on January 24–26, 2024 in Strasbourg (France) in the Conference Room of the Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (I.S.I.S.) on the Esplanade Campus.

The Esplanade campus is only 15 minutes walking from the city centre. You can also reach the Esplanade University campus by taking the tramway lines C, E or F and getting off at either UniversitéObservatoire or Esplanade stops.

For organizational reasons, the number of participants will be limited to 150 people.

How to reach Strasbourg

By plane (and train / bus connection):

From Strasbourg airport (SXBEntzheim International Airport, www.strasbourg.aeroport.fr):

To reach the city, you can take a train to Strasbourg main station (Strasbourg Gare Centrale), which takes 8 min (from 5h00 to 22.30; check timetables here). After having passed the security control, go to the right-hand side of the hall and you’ll find the tunnel leading to the train station (see map). At the beginning of the tunnel, you’ll also find the machine to buy the tickets. A combined ticket (4.80 €) will allow you to use both the train and the bus/tramway within Strasbourg city to reach your hotel.

Alternatively, there are taxis available at the airport. The airport is about 10 km from Strasbourg, but this option might be a bit expensive.

SXB

Basel (BLSEuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg, www.euroairport.com):

From this airport, the best is to go to Strasbourg by train. At the arrival hall, get out from the airport on the Swiss side. Take a local bus (Bus Line 50) to Basel SBB train station (15 min; check timetables here), then take a direct train to Strasbourg (ca. 1h25; check timetables here).

Frankfurt (FRAFrankfurt International Airport, www.frankfurt-airport.com):

The easiest option from this airport to Strasbourg is the Lufthansa Express Bus (2h30, https://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/lufthansa-express-bus). This bus service might be included directly in your flight-ticket, especially if you travel with Lufthansa (select XER instead of FRA as the final destination, Lufthansa bus stop at the Strasbourg main station). You’ll have to collect your checked baggage either at the baggage claim area or in the AiRail Terminal hall (see map). Ask for information on arriving to the airport.

It is also possible to reach Strasbourg by train from the airport’s DB station (1 transfer at least, from 2h00 on; check timetables here).

FRA

Paris (CDGAirport Roissy/Charles de Gaullewww.aeroportsdeparis.fr):

You have a direct connection by fast train (TGV) to Strasbourg. The Paris-Charles de Gaulle SNCF station is located between terminals 2C, 2D, 2E and 2F. The station is called Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 - TGV. The trip takes about 2h30 only, but there are only a few direct trains per day. AirFrance provides combined air/rail correspondence tickets.

If the timetable does not suit you, you can alternatively catch a train from the train station Paris Gare de l’Est to Strasbourg Gare Centrale (ca.2h30 for a TGV train). To get there, first take a train to Paris-Nord train station, by using the RER B (check here for timetables and information about train-station locations within the airport). Then, you can reach Gare de l’Est from Gare du Nord just by walking (it is about 10 min only!).

It is important to note that, contrary to regional TER trains, it is not possible to get in TGV trains without a valid ticket. Therefore, buy your ticket as soon as possible! Visit www.sncf-connect.com to see timetables and book your ticket.

Karlsruhe - Baden Baden (FKBBaden-Airparkhttps://www.baden-airpark.de/en/):

There are two bus lines (234 and X34) that connect the airport with several train stations (Baden-Baden, Rasttat, Bühl), from which you can catch a train to Strasbourg (overall travel time ca. 2h; check timetables here).

 * Stuttgart (STRStuttgart Airportwww.stuttgart-airport.com):

From the airport, take a train to Stuttgart's main railway station (Hauptbahnof, 30 min), from which you have several train connection options to Strasbourg (1 transfer at least, from 1h40 on; check timetables here).

By train

Strasbourg is well connected by fast train lines (TGV and/or ICE) and is easy to reach by train. You can get your tickets at the SNCF website.

It is important to note that, contrary to regional TER trains, it is not possible to get in TGV trains without a valid ticket. Therefore, buy your ticket as soon as possible!

By bus (airport shuttle)

You have also the possibility of directly arranging your travel from the above-mentioned airports to Strasbourg by using Alsace-Navette.

HOTELS

The city centre is at walking distance from the conference location. Strasbourg possesses a large offer of hotels, but it is a turistic location and the site of several European institutions as well. Hotel availability and prices may vary substantially during the year. We therefore recommend all participants to book their overnight accomodation as early as possible.
